We have now been to the “Riccall Pickle” (no idea where the name came from), a couple of times and it has on both occasions been excellent. Seating both inside and out is limited, but we’ve been able to get seated easily. Service is friendly and speedy, coffee comes in a cup or a good sized mug, and the menu is varied with bacon and sausage baps, a good selection of cakes and the obligatory full English. Our go-to option,(the benchmark for any cafe), the ubiquitous Teacake, was as good as we have had. The only real downside for cyclists is that places to leave your bike are limited, with only a small area to lean your bike, next to the outdoor seating, and when it is busy you would struggle. However that would not deter us, and as an “end of ride cafe” (just 10 miles from York, straight up the Solar cycle path), this is sure to become a regular cafe spot for us.
