The Ramblers’ Rest, Millington near Pocklington

Last visited: May 6th, 2023

This is a firm favourite with cyclist from lots of different clubs if our experience of visiting is anything to go by. In the summer at the weekend it can be very busy. It has a good outside seating area, one part of which is covered if the rain has set in. We have never been inside to sit, but it looks ok. The coffee and teacake offering is good, (update 6.05.23 - teacakes were poor, dry with little fruit and the hard butter problem persists) with one of our group commenting that it was some of the nicest butter he had tasted on a teacake, although we did encounter the dreaded, hard to butter problem, (can’t remember whether it was individual little pats of butter or in a bowl). The cakes look good and it all comes in proper pottery coffee cups etc. We have had some problems with the service in the past, but on the latest visit it could not be faulted.

21/05/22 update.

Having just visited this cafe again, we really have to give it the thumbs up. Coffee and teacakes (and a bacon butty) were delivered to us super quick, and with proper pats of butter and three jam choices (blackcurrant, raspberry and strawberry - we had all three), it could not be faulted. One member of our group, (Barry), commented that he thought it was the best outdoor seating cafe he had visited. Bless, he is new to the group and a bit of a cafe virgin, but he is right, it is a good outdoor seating area.
