This turned out to be quite a find and I think to date we have visited on three occasions. Right in the heart of the village, set in a courtyard with a couple of other interesting businesses, an Art and crafts type place, a vintage garden ornaments and stuff and a book swap shelf. The cafe has both good inside and exceptionally good outside space, a full cafe menu and a range of cakes and drinks. It’s the kind of place to bring your partner or family for lunch or cake and afternoon tea. Coffee is good, served in proper mugs, the cakes are plentiful and come in good sizes, and the service is very friendly (we were already having a bit of banter with the staff on our second visit) and quick. There are dedicated bike racks, plenty of other lean against the wall space, and too date we have not been there when it has been too busy. If you are out this way we would recommend this place and if you are not then plan a route to include it. You won’t be disappointed. April 2024 update. This is as good as ever. We now consider ourselves regulars and the owner remembers us and we are greeted with cheery hellos. This has become one of our favourite stops, it’s a great halfway point in an 80/90k ride fromYork. And at £7 for coffee and cake we reckon that’s good value.
