The Gourmet- Wetherby

Last visited: August 24th, 2022

Situated in the centre, right next door to Ponfrets (also reviewed a few weeks ago), sits another “street” style cafe, on the cobbles of Wetherby. It’s a very pleasant cafe stop, away from all the Traffic with plenty of “lean to” spaces to park your bike. It’s popular with cyclists and with the good folk of the town so you should take care not to block the path with your bike, which does not appear to bother some cyclists!! Anyway the coffee is acceptable, the crumpets and teacakes are good, the service is prompt and pleasant. We have ventured into scone, cream and jam territory, which were good although not the best we have had. Inside the cafe looks good, although to date we have always sat outside. Wetherby is a popular stop for us on our Wednesday rides as it just a flat and fast hour back to York. There are lots of cafes in the vicinity so it’s a good place to stop.
