This is the first time we have been to Terrington for a while (and hence the first review), and the cafe continues to be consistently, inconsistent. This visit for 6 of us meant fairly ordinary coffee and somewhat dry teacakes, sat in the yard outside. But they also have some odd “rules”, to navigate. If you sit at the front of the cafe outside in the sunshine, (when the sun is out obvs), then you are ordering from the takeaway menu and that does not include teacakes!! Go inside and into the outside courtyard and a whole array of goodies awaits you as you order from the full cafe menu. It remains unclear why this is the case, so if you don’t want teacakes, then sit outside and save yourself the 20% VAT, and relax in the sunshine. Other than the dry teacakes, the menu looks good, cake offering is fine, staff are friendly and efficient, once they have navigated the new electronic till, and whilst there is no dedicated space for bikes, there are plenty of lean-against spots outside. And of course Terrington is a very pretty village offering lots of routes into and out. 05.2023 update. Teacakes continue to be large and dry served with hard butter. Given that teacakes are our standard measure it’s hard to recommend this cafe. But if you are out this way, the cakes and savoury pastry things look good, and it’s never busy. For us we are going to try the Yorkshire Lavender cafe just around the corner.
