It is unclear why the Cafe is called, Hearts of Ampleforth, which seems to imply that there are lots of “Hearts” cafes spread throughout the length and breath of Breath of North Yorkshire, but this one is the Ampleforth version!! Anyway owners can call their cafes what they like, as long as they serve good coffee, decent cakes and do so in a friendly and efficient manner. On that basis, Hearts is out there with the best. Service is indeed very friendly, efficient and quick, the coffee is a good mug full with either hot or cold milk and the teacakes (our standard by which we judge everything else), were very good, served on wooden bread boards (always a bonus), with proper butter and jam. We don’t get out Ampleforth way as often as we ought, as the riding in getting there is excellent; as is Hearts of Ampleforth. There is no specific provision for bikes, but plenty of “lean against the wall” space where you can keep an eye on your treasured possession. An all round good cafe which could easily become a regular spot.
