The location of the cafe right alongside the lake means you are never lost for interesting things to look at if the conversation dries up. Outside seating is good and whilst there is no bike specific parking there is plenty of outside “lean your bike against a wall space”. We have been to this cafe several times over the past couple of years. However on the last couple of visits the speed of service has been unacceptably slow. We waited nearly 40 mins for our teacakes to come out on the last visit, by which time our coffee had been long drunk and we were contemplating a second one. In fairness to the cafe they were/are very busy on a Saturday, with happy campers ordering their full English breakfasts and the queue builds up. So probably best avoided at the weekend.
The coffee, however, is not good. Nothing wrong with a bean to cup machine, which they use most of the time, although a proper Expresso machine is available, but their coffee is bland and unremarkable. Teacakes are good all served in proper cups and plates, but the overall experience means we will not be seeking this place out in the future. It’s a shame.
